Exploring the Alternative PEMF Options Recommended by Doctors

95% of the world’s population has at least one health problem, according to figures published in The Lancet. More than a third have 5 ailments or more.

But at a time when patients are increasingly wary of treatments with risky side effects and other potential dangers, many are exploring the alternative PEMF options recommended by doctors.

“Alternative” is somewhat of a misnomer, because PEMF has been in use since the 1970s. Over the last 4 decades, a growing body of clinical trials and medical research has continued to demonstrate PEMF’s wide-ranging health benefits. This has ushered PEMF into the mainstream as more physicians have begun recommending the use of a PEMF mat to their patients.

What are alternative PEMF options?

PEMF stands for pulsed electromagnetic field therapy. It’s a non-invasive practice in which low-level energy is emitted from a specialized PEMF device to stimulate cellular activity in the body. This cellular stimulation is completely painless (most people don’t feel anything at all), but incredibly effective. PEMF bolsters the body’s natural healing systems, delivering a host of benefits, including pain relief, increased energy, better sleep, reduced inflammation and more.

The high-quality PEMF machines recommended by doctors typically involve one or more of the following devices:

  • Full-body PEMF mat: This is a cushioned mat that you lie down on while it emits the low-level electromagnetic energy. A PEMF mat provides full-body PEMF therapy, enhancing the cellular benefits across a wide area of the body. This can help for issues such as chronic pain and arthritis, as well as other ailments and conditions such as Alzheimer’s, depression, Lyme disease and many others.

  • Targeted PEMF device applicator: This is a specialized applicator that can be used to target specific areas of the body, such as joints, muscles or injuries. These applicators are handheld and sometimes included with the full-body PEMF mats (or available as add-on devices).

Headset / goggles: Some PEMF devices, such as the iMRS Prime and Omnium1, feature optional headsets for more effective targeting of the brain. The headsets use rhythmic sound and light stimuli, in conjunction with the biological organ clock, to simultaneously stimulate the auditory and visual cortex. This can deliver benefits for a wide range of patients, including those who experience anxiety, insomnia, neurological disorders and other ailments.

A Safe Alternative to Risky Treatment Options

Let’s look at one example of why physicians are recommending PEMF as an alternative to other treatment options.

In the United States alone, more than 20% of adults suffer from chronic pain, according to figures from the CDC. Traditionally, one of the most common treatments that physicians have prescribed for chronic pain is medication. For the many people who experience no relief from over-the-counter NSAIDs or acetaminophen, prescription painkillers have typically been the only option.

But most prescription painkillers come with serious risks and side effects. Dependency is a top concern (especially for opioids). But severe side effects can also include respiratory problems, nausea, vomiting and hormonal imbalances, just to name a few.

It’s no surprise then that medical practitioners are instead encouraging patients to use alternative PEMF options, which are proven to relieve pain and come with none of the side effects or risks associated with traditional pain meds.

Is a PEMF mat right for you?

One of the greatest benefits of PEMF therapy is that you can do it easily with your own PEMF device in the comfort of your own home. To find out if PEMF therapy is right for you, contact our friendly representatives at iMRS 2000 today.
