A Detailed Comparison between
IMRS 2000 Complete/Pro and Bemer® Classic Set/Pro Set

10 Reasons Why The iMRS 2000 is clearly the Better Choice

I have people ask me all the time, which is better, the IMRS 2000 or the BEMER?

In my opinion the IMRS 2000 and the BEMER are the two best PEMF system on the market right now. I really don’t think you need to look at any other devices. There are far more healing stories from both than all other PEMF devices available in the U.S. They both use low frequency, low intensity waveforms with a complex triple wave-packet with many layers of frequencies and intensities that resonant with bodily tissues. Plus much more as you will see in this article.

Personally I have owned both and been a distributor for both. I have owned the BEMER 3000 and the current BEMER Professional. I have also owned and used the MRS 2000, Omnium 1 and older MRS 2000 and even older yet vitalife MRS 2000. Additionally I have owned another 25 PEMF brands, both low and higher intensity and tried pretty much most brands available in the U.S.

In my opinion the iMRS 2000 and the BEMER are THE TWO to consider. So which is better?
Here are my top 10 reasons why I currently own, use and recommend the iMRS 2000 over the BEMER.

1.Frequencies of iMRS 2000 and BEMER

Well straight from the specs for both units:

iMRS 2000: .5Hz, 3Hz, 5.5Hz & 15 Hz.
BEMER: 10 Hz and 30 Hz.

Note: Regarding frequency – BEMER wanted me to add that they utilize a patented signal configuration pulsed at combinations approximately 10 Hz and 30 Hz to elicit its targeted therapeutic effects. Similarly the iMRS also has a very complex signal with frequencies well beyond the primary stated frequencies.

But the iMRS 2000 has FOUR primary frequency settings in the .5-15 Hz range and Bemer has main two frequencies ranging from 10 -30 Hz. NOTE: By frequency here we are referring to the repetition rate which is the frequency of the pulses NOT all the frequencies contained in the signal.

Most research on PEMF signals consistently shows that frequencies in the range of 0-30 Hz, especially 0-30 Hz have the greatest therapeutic value.

Make sure to check out the Book, PEMF – The 5th Element of Health (chapter 5) for a detailed look at the body mind-earth-connection and the 0-30 Hz frequency range.

2. Built in Biorhythm Clock - iMRS 2000 For Better Sleep

The iMRS 2000 has a built-in biorhythm clock using the frequencies listed in the last section of .5, 3, 5.5 and 15 Hz. This is great because it gives you the right frequency for the time of day.

For example, in the morning you’re getting primarily around 15 Hz, which is a healthy Beta brain-state frequency. This helps to wake you up and energize you so you can be more alert in the morning and early part of the day (to get work done and to be mentally sharp and alert.

In the evening programs it uses primarily more of the Delta/Theta frequencies (.5 Hz and 3Hz respectively), which helps you to wind down, relax and get ready for sleep. So, it’s very in tune with your biorhythm, and what you need for the time of day.

The Bemer Classic and Bemer Pro have ONLY two frequency settings of 10 Hz and 33 Hz (straight from their company FAQ brochure). The 33 Hz daytime setting on the Bemer you will notice is above the Beta range, which is a little to high and may be irritating or agitating for sensitive people. But this is the standard setting, which Bemer recommends starting with in their protocols. It is not until week 7 that the Basic Plan presented by Bemer recommends using the sleep program.

Also once you start using the sleep program, the 10 Hz is alpha and yes relaxing BUT not ideal. Ideally the sleep frequencies should be lower in delta – theta range (0- 5hz) before bedtime to induce deep sleep (like the iMRS 2000 which has a theta and delta setting). This is why the iMRS 2000 gets MANY more positive reviews for better sleep than Bemer or any other PEMF device.

**NOTE: Regarding frequency – BEMER utilizes a patented signal configuration pulsed at combinations approximately 10 Hz and 30 Hz to elicit its targeted therapeutic effects. Similarly the iMRS also has a very complex signal with frequencies well beyond the primary stated frequencies.

3. iMRS 2000 has a Wider Range of Intensities on ALL applicators- Lower for Sensitive and Higher for Deep Healing.

Standard Bemer PEMF applicators

Discussion: The iMRS applicators have a better and wider range of intensities than the Bemer applicators. They go both higher and lower.

1) The LOWER settings on the iMRS for sensitive people go down to .09 uT compared to Bemer’s lowest setting of 3.5 uT. That’s 39 times more sensitive! (average flux density).

2) The higher intensities on the iMRS go HIGHER than the Bemer – 70 uT on iMRS compared to 50 uT for Bemer on full body mat and 300 uT compared to 150 uT on probe for local application. So up to two times stronger than Bemer. (intensities in average flux density).

3) Plus as we’ll see the iMRS 2000 full body mat has a graduated intensity from head to feet which further helps with sensitive people and overall makes the sessions more relaxing and enjoyable.

** And again to reiterate Regarding Intensity the BEMER has a maximum average flux density (intensity) of 150 microTesla. Its range is from 3.5-150 microTesla max. average flux density. Also the iMRS intensities stated are also average flux density.

4. Rapid Rise and Fall Waveforms - Sawtooth & Square wave

First, the iMRS 2000 system uses the proven saw tooth waveform on its full body mat which provides the cells with a full-frequency spectrum simultaneously that will resonate with different tissues. As Siskin & Walker showed different tissues in the body respond to different frequencies, primarily within the 0-30 Hz range. When you use a saw tooth and the harmonics of a saw tooth you are getting a broader frequency spectrum.

The great advantage of the sawtooth pulse in comparison with the individual sine pulse for the resonant effect lies precisely in this increased supply of oscillations. Also, a sawtooth waveform provides the maximum impulse or action potential across the cell membrane, which will boost the voltage of the cell (to improve the sodium potassium pump and recharge the TMP). According to Liboff the therapeutic value of a given pulsed signal is highly dependent on how rapidly the rise and fall time happens (Rosch 2004).  The rapid rise and fall time represents a high peak voltage value that is responsible for ion displacement in the body and recharging cellular voltage. Greater ion displacement exerts a stronger biological effect. The quintessence of the 20 years of magnetic field research is found in this waveform shape for PEMF therapy.

The sawtooth waveform was first introduced in 1974 by Bassett. Dr Bassett observed that a rapid rise and fall time induces the maximum current in a treated tissue as with the sawtooth. In his research it was the piezoelectric current induced which accelerated bone healing. As a result of Bassett’s work, this waveform has been FDA approved in the USA for the treatment of non-union fractures and to aid in spinal fusion operations.

***Liboff AR.  Signal Shapes in Electromagnetic Therapies:  A Primer. Bioelectromagnetic Medicine. 2004, Rosch PJ and Markov MS, editors, page 32.

Rapid Rise and Fall Waveforms - Squarewave

The square wave was the particular waveform that NASA found to be the most effective for healing and regeneration. They found specifically that low intensity, low frequency (around 10 Hz) and a rapid rise and fall (which both the saw tooth and square wave have) was the most ideal signal. In fact, they found that lower intensity worked better than higher intensity, and the lower frequencies worked better than the higher frequencies. And the rapid rise and fall saw tooth and square wave worked better than a sine wave or the more simplistic waveforms that don’t have a rapid rise and fall.

The NASA study concluded, “The most effective electromagnetic field for repair of trauma was square wave with a rapid rate of change (dB/dT) – means the change in the magnetic field intensity with respect to time – which saw cell growth increased up to 4.0 times.” The NASA study further noted that “slowly varying (millisecond pulse, sine wave) or non varying DC (CW lasers, magnets) had little to no effect.”

Brain Oscillations and the Importance of Waveform Shape

Scott R. Cole1,* and Bradley Voytek1,2,3,4
Oscillations are a prevalent feature of brain recordings. They are believed to play key roles in neural communication and computation. Current analysis methods for studying neural oscillations often implicitly assume that the oscillations are sinusoidal. While these approaches have proven fruitful, we show here that there are numerous instances in which neural oscillations are nonsinusoidal. We highlight approaches to characterize nonsinusoidal features and account for them in traditional spectral analysis. Instead of being a nuisance, we discuss how these nonsinusoidal features may provide crucial and so far overlooked physiological information related to neural communication, computation, and cognition.

A Helpful Analogy to Understand Why Sawtooth and Square waves are more effective than Sine waves.

One of the ways to understand why a rapid rise and fall works better is that you need an abrupt change to create ion transport across the cell membrane to create energy.

As an analogy, think of starting a fire with a piece of flint and stone. You strike the stone with the flint quickly and abruptly to create a spark/energy. This is like a sawtooth or squarewave motion.

Using a sine wave (like the Bemer and some other PEMF companies), is akin to slowly rubbing the stone with the flint up and down slowly. You may get some small tiny sparks, but nothing like striking it quickly.

Makes sense right?

Because a changing magnetic field induces an electrical current (or movement of charged particles like Na, K, Ca etc.), having a rapid rise and fall waveform creates the most dramatic flow of energy (think of striking the flint on stone).

Bemer Signal - Same for B.Body and Applicators

The Bemer Signal is essentially a complex sinusoidal waveform and is used on ALL Bemer mats, pads and applicators. It is not a rapid rise and fall like a sawtooth or a squarewave.

Here you can see the Bemer signal and clearly it is a sinusoidal in nature. Towards the far right of the signal it does approach being a rapid rise and fall, but this is only a small part and still a rounded sine wave at the peak.

This signal is still much better than cheaper PEMF devices that use sine waves and repeating signals. But the iMRS just comes out slightly on top.

This is very important because the legs and feet can handle a higher intensity than the thyroid and head/neck (which are the most sensitive area). This is much better for people that are chemically sensitive and/or electrosensitive in that the head and neck/thyroid can be easily over-stimulated and irritated.  The head and neck is definitely more sensitive than the feet and we have worked with hundreds of people and found this out firsthand. So this is a big advantage of the iMRS over the BEMER for sensitive individuals (along with the FACT the iMRS can go 10x lower in intensity when needed).

5. Dissecting the IMRS 2000 and BEMER And Why You Want Pure Tightly Wound Circular Copper Coils and Graduated Intensity on Full Body Mat

I had some fun dissecting the iMRS 2000 and BEMER Full Body Mats (and applicators).

What is very striking is the iMRS 2000 uses very tightly wound pure copper, where the BEMER uses plastic tubing to surround their coils. They both use 3 pairs of circular coils but BEMER uses Oval at the legs (which is not ideal).

Also the iMRS had up to 45 TURNS at the feet, 30 at the torso and 15 at the head. This graduated intensity is important to give your body more energy where it can handle it and less where it is sensitive (head and neck).

BEMER uses around 17 turns by my count on ALL THREE. No graduated intensity.

Circular loops with multiple turns need to be tightly wound with no spacing to yield the cleanest and purest pulsating magnetic field possible, like the iMRS 2000. Also this allows for more higher harmonic frequencies because the signal is a higher fidelity. Think of a high end stereo sound quality versus a lesser stereo system. The coils ARE the speaker system of your PEMF device. Don’t you want the highest quality signal?

Surrounding the copper with plastic tubing may help to make the mat more flexible, but at the cost of a lower quality signal. The added spacing allows the field lines to bleed off a bit and diminishes the higher harmonic frequencies.

Pure tightly wound copper will give you a better signal to noise ratio… That means cleaner signal, less noise.

Closeup of Bemer Coil surrounded by plastic tubing.

iMRS 2000 Pillow and Bemer B.Pad

The iMRS 2000 pillow pad has TWO coils exactly like the ones in the full body mat. Tightly wound, perfectly circular pure copper and many turns for maximum magnetic flux.

The BEMER B.pad is a belt of sorts that has a long oval wound coil also surrounded by plastic tubing that is less than ideal for giving you a pure pulsating field. At least the BEMER full body mat had circularly wound coils, but the B.pad will give you a very spread out field that is not exactly a pure pulsating magnetic field.

PROBLEM WITH BEMER B-PAD! You do NOT want to wrap it around anything… WHY?
Because then the coils in the B-PAD FACE each other and cancel out.
That is, the BEMER IS NOT A HEMHOLTZ COIL, so it is COUNTER PRODUCTIVE!!

Bemer B.Spot

B.Spot – The Bemer BSpot for local Applicator is NO COMPARISON to the iMRS 2000 probe. Below is the INSIDE of a B.Spot we took apart which has only a couple little tiny copper coils. That will NOT give you very much magnetic Flux. This weak field will not penetrate deep at all for local pain relief healing and regeneration. BIG advantage to the iMRS 2000 for local application. This is the ONLY Applicator you get with the Bemer Classic Set!!

In all fairness, AT LEAST the B.Spot DOES use perfectly circular coils compared to the B.pad that DOES not.

iMRS 2000 Probe

The iMRS 2000 Probe has over 100 turns in the copper coils with a ferrous core that maximizes magnetic field flux, strength and penetration depth. Night and Day difference to the B.Spot.

The iMRS 2000 Probe for local application is SO much better, stronger and more effective for local pain relief, healing and regeneration than the Bemer’s Local applicators. Many of our pain relief and healing stories come from this very powerful probe applicator.

**NEW INFORMATION** Another Big Problem with BEMERS COILS –  A Shocking Look Inside (More to come soon) 2 pics of an open BEMER coil-wire! As far as we can identify, it is not even copper wire inside, looks like aluminum. The single wires are thin like a human hair and typically twisted like speaker cables. The entire diameter of the cable incl. the insulation is around 1mm!!!

If the material they use is aluminum, which we think, here is a little scientific information on aluminum not being an ideal conductor.

https://sciencing.com/aluminum-vs-copper-conductivity-5829267.html

Bottom Line: BEMER use a cheap material, covered by a plastic insulation, the diameters they use are by far smaller than the iMRS 2000 and due to the worse conductivity properties of aluminum and the higher resistance factor, they would have to use almost double the diameters we use in our solid copper coils to reach the same performance. This is unreal as the coils would become very bulky and cannot be rolled anymore anyway. Their induction properties and capabilities are nothing comparing to the iMRS 2000!

6. BioFeedback available with IMRS - No Biofeedback with Bemer

This is a HUGE advantage of the iMRS 2000 over both the Bemer Classic and Pro.

One of the easiest and most effective forms of biofeedback is Heart Rate Variability (HRV), which can be easily and accurately measured through the pulse (finger or ear sensors).

The HUGE benefit of this is that the system will select the intensities automatically based on what YOUR body needs. And because everyone and every body is different, this is far superior than relying on rigid set protocols (like what Bemer does) that are at best educated guesses as to what the body needs.

The iMRS 2000 biofeedback allows the user to relax and the system will automatically adjust the intensity settings which the body needs for that given time and day.

7. Less Likely to Acclimate or Habituate with iMRS

What this means is that the benefits you get with the iMRS 2000 will not decrease or wane over time. There is no need to take time off with the iMRS or cycle it like 5 days on, two off, etc.

You have probably heard this with drugs, supplements, exercise, etc. If you do the same thing over and over, you plateau and eventually start to decline. That’s because your body acclimates or habituates to a set supplement or routine. You need to vary things and mix routines up to if you want to get consistent benefits (this is the basis and success of P90X® exercise).

To give Bemer credit, they do use a varying signal and change polarity AND have two frequency settings so it IS better than static magnetic therapy (static magnetic therapy is the easiest to acclimate to because there is ZERO variation).

However the iMRS 2000 has TWO waveforms (sawtooth and square wave) to Bemer’s ONE (Bemer uses same Bemer signal on all pads and applicators), Also the iMRS 2000 has 4 frequencies to and Bemer only has two**. This further gives greater variation from day to day.

But most significantly, the iMRS advanced Biofeedback system adjusts the intensity in the mat every two minutes to maximize HRV, which gives your body a unique session each time (and graphs this for you to look at after your session)!

For those reasons the iMRS 2000 will give you better, safer & more effective long term results over time with no diminishing returns even if you use it every day.

8. LEDS - Integrated Light and Sound System vs Bemer B.Light

Both the iMRS 2000 and Bemer have LED applications but both are different. The iMRS used red, green and blue leds with advanced Light and sound technology. The Bemer LED system is just LEDs to be used for pain relief. Both have their advantages, but it should be mentioned there is nothing special about Bemer’s LED technology. In fact, there are many superior LED local applicator systems on the market that can be used with any PEMF device.

The uniqueness of the iSLRS light and sound system of the iMRS is that it is synchronized and integrated with the frequencies used in the mat further helping the body to naturally entrain to its natural circadian rhythms. Bemer B.Light is in no way integrated with the Bemer pads.

The iMRS integrated light and sound system (iSLRS) helps to further bring the mind to deeper relaxation. It’s like a spa for the brain. The iSLRS help to synchronize both hemispheres of the brain for increased relaxation, creativity and overall health while the full body mat recharges and energizes the body. And it is very well documented that meditation and relaxation have extraordinary healing effects. Big advantage to iMRS here.

The iSLRS comes with the following features:

1. Goggles for visual stimulation. Red, blue and green LED’s with dimmer switch.
2. Headphones with comfortable around-the-ear design to eliminate extraneous noise, allowing you to fully enjoy this “spa for your brain.”
3. SD Card with 45 minutes anticipated music (2-18Hz)
4. Built in Music Player (in the iMRS)
5. Fully synchronized with every “iMRS – whole body mat application”

B.Light

B.Light is a LED therapy applicator used by Bemer. This is a nice addition but the truth is there are better LED systems on the market (even Amazon) and you can use ANY good LED system with any PEMF device.

9. iGUIDE with Database of 284 Preprogrammed Conditions

The iMRS 2000 has an iGuide for practitioners with a Built in Database of 284 health conditions and pre-programmed settings for the full body mat, pillow and probe and all the 4 biorhythm settings (which automatically come up based on time of day). This adds up to OVER 3400 total protocols.

These protocols are based on over 10 years of clinical data and once your purchase we can send you an ebook to substantiate all these protocols.

This helps practitioners (and customers) to get the exact settings they need for most common health conditions. So all the research proven protocols are at the tip of your finger.

The Bemer only Has set protocols for EVERYONE!!! See Chart below.

This is a HUGE advantage to the iMRS which with both the iMORE biofeedback AND the iGUIDE database of protocols gives you EXACTLY what you need.
Bemer only has cookie-cutter protocols that are supposed to work for everyone from elders to pro athletes. It’s basically guesswork if you go outside these rigid recommendations.

10. iMRS 2000 is a Better Price

The iMRS Wellfit and Bemer Classic are the entry level systems for both brands and very similar in what they offer (though we have shown the advantages of the iMRS).

Both systems have a control unit, full body mat and one local applicator.
IMRS basic unit is only $3775. Bemer is $4290
(iMRS $515 LESS for comparable system)

iMRS Complete with iSLRS light and sound has equal number of components to Bemer Pro. Both have Control unit, two applicators and one LED system.
iMRS Costs $5264, Bemer $5990.
(iMRS $726 LESS than Bemer for Comparable System)

This is comparing comparable systems, apples to apples. Both iMRS and Bemer offer even more accessories but in each case of comparisons, the iMRS comes out $500 – $800 less when comparing comparable packages. Plus iMRS usually has promotions to FURTHER save you $400-$1000 or more. Become a member and you’ll receive notifications of our sales and promotions.

Conclusion – The iMRS 2000 is Clearly the Better Choice

In this detailed comparison we have stuck with the facts as listed in both products company brochures and websites, and only the facts.

To Summarize: The iMRS 2000….

1) has a Better Range of Frequencies than Bemer
2) has a Better Range of Intensities than Bemer
3) has Better Biorhythm Frequencies for Daytime and Sleep
4) has More Proven Waveforms than Bemer
5) has Better coils in full body mat and applicators
6) has a Better LED system
7) has Biofeedback where Bemer has none
8) New Prime, completely blows away the competition
9) Full Body Mat Not available for sale in USA
10) The iMRS 2000 is clearly the Better Choice

But even after making this comparison, I DO feel the BEMER is the second best unit out there and if you get a BEMER you should get great results as you are getting a worldwide leader in PEMF (along with the iMRS).

Both the iMRS 2000 and BEMER are THE two PEMF devices I would consider and in my opinion the edge goes to the iMRS 2000 for all the reasons I mentioned.

Also I personally have had experience with BOTH and prefer to use myself the iMRS 2000. My reasons are I noticed better sleep with the IMRS, I REALLY like the biofeedback and better range of frequency and intensity settings and for local pain relief (when needed), I think the iMRS applicators are better in terms of waveform, signal and penetration for deeper healing.
